OUR HISTORY

Heritage Baptist Church began as First Conservative Baptist Church on December 16, 1951, with services held in a home and later a store until property was purchased in 1952. The church congregated under a tent on the newly purchased property for 7 months under the leadership of its first pastor, Bro. Dale Klint. A parsonage directly next to the church was built in July of 1954. Sunday school class rooms attached to the back portion of the church building were constructed in 1960. After Pastor Klint resigned in 1962, Bro. Glenn Lockwood became pastor. In 1964, the church constructed a new auditorium directly adjacent and attached to the original church building. The first services were held in the new church building on April 11, 1965. Pastor Lockwood resigned in 1967. On January 3, 1968, Bro. Maurice Melton voted in as pastor and the church continued to grow under the long-tenure of Pastor Maurice Melton (1968-2018). Pastor Melton went home to be with the Lord in April of 2018.  We cherish his memory and have the joy of knowing we will see him again. The church began praying that the Lord would send a pastor to lead Heritage Baptist Church for His glory and honor. In June of 2019, Pastor Alan Jackson began his ministry as Pastor of Heritage Baptist Church. Heritage Baptist Church had a long-lasting relationship with the Jackson Family while they were missionaries in the country of Honduras for over 17 years. When God called Pastor Jackson to serve as full-time Pastor of Heritage Baptist Church, his family relocated to the Evansville area. As an independent Baptist church, we seek to lift up Jesus Christ in our Sunday school classes and church services. With a strong emphasis on the preaching of God’s Word, our services are refreshingly traditional.

Heritage Baptist Church provides sound biblical preaching and uplifting music, and encourages the surrounding Evansville community to draw closer to the Lord on a weekly basis. With the enriching blend of local residents, our church family abounds with energy in friendship and ministry. Heritage Baptist Church strives to follow the Lord’s command to be salt and light in the Evansville and surrounding communities and around the world.

Our church is more than just a building filled with people. We are committed to being a part of the Evansville and surrounding communities. We believe in missions, serving people and making a difference in our community and the world.

We have healthy ministries that include all ages and more are coming in 2020. As the Lord continues to bless and provide, we are preparing for future growth. Souls continue to be saved as the church moves forward for the glory of God. Under our pastor's direction, and because of the goodness of God and the faithfulness of God's people, we anticipate a great future whether here on earth or in heaven with the Lord.
